Thesis Paper: Multicultural Counseling
The following discourse addresses multicultural and advocacy competencies demonstrating how the course has been helpful in developing one’s proficiency. It is necessary to note at this point that multicultural counseling is of importance since it is aimed at the development and the formulation of guidelines of enhancing counseling education and practice (Arredondo, 1999, p102).
Learning about knowledge and skills is a great inspiration in the building up of my competency over the last quarter. I have come to understand that multiculturalism is a force in psychology which complements the psychodynamics, behavioral and the humanistic explanation of the human behavior. A broad view of the multicultural counseling embraces an extensive review of the social variables. For instance, those differences may range from age, ethnicity, religion, social class, gender, sexual preference, and disability (NGRF, n.d).
